Chile tiene una larga historia en la reproducción de semillas transgénicas. Sin embargo hasta el día de hoy no se ha aprobado ningún producto para la comercialización domestica. Todas las semillas importadas para multiplicación deben ser producidas bajo estrictos controles y luego reexportadas, por lo tanto la comunidad agrícola no se beneficia con esta tecnología.
